The Ultimate Metal Gutter Guards
Roof gutter guards are a means to prevent leaves, debris and branches from collecting in the gutters of your property. GRD Gutter Cleaning supplies, installs and maintains the finest standard of gutter guard products available on the market today.
With the highest CSIRO rating, our Colorbond® premium metal gutter guard mesh will not ignite or melt under intense heat. When hot embers land on this mesh, they simply burn out. Our gutter mesh is suitable for most tile or metal roofs.
The fine woven mesh also inhibits pine needles and other small debris from entering the gutters, making it ideal for water collection. Our powder coated gutter guard mesh is available in a range of Colorbond® colours to blend seamlessly with your roof.
Our products are Australian-made and durable, and are manufactured to meet and even exceed Australian standards. GRD Gutter Cleaning’s leaf gutter guards deliver superior features for longer lifespans, they are visually appealing and provide excellent cost savings.

Why You Should Consider Gutter Guard Installation
Newcastle, Port Stephens and the Hunter Valley is home to many beautiful trees, particularly Gum trees. Gutters most commonly become blocked due to the debris that falls from nearby or overhanging trees, which causes them to overflow and cause damage. The guttering will often block at the top of the down pipe and periodic cleaning will not always eliminate this problem.
Your gutters may benefit from having a leaf guard installed to help prevent the guttering and down pipes blocking in the future. This can save a lot of expensive repairs that can come from neglected gutters. Also, if you have rain water collection tanks, keeping your gutters clean will ensure you get clean water into the tanks, and ensure you get the most efficient flow of water to them.
You can protect your home by:
- Preventing water damage via the gutters and valleys
- Preventing damage to foundations from overflowing gutters
- Minimise mossy pathways and stains to exterior walls
- Extend the lifespan and condition of your gutters
- Remove stagnant water where mosquitos choose to breed
- Prevent contamination in water tanks from leaf and debris breakdown, and bird/vermin droppings
- Protect your home from bushfires and housefires
- Assist the flow of water to your tank by removing blockages
- Increase your roof’s safety and prevent ladder accidents
How do you know if you should install gutter guard to your property, and what type of guard should you get?
Understanding your needs will help you to select the right gutter mesh for you. To do this, consider factors such as leaf size, pests, bushfire risk, strength, and hail and snow activity. Here is some information for consideration:
Leaves and Leaf Size
Leaves that fall into your gutters come in many shapes and sizes. Vegetation that glides off a well-chosen mesh may pass through or get stuck in less suitable options, so it’s important to consider the size of the leaves in
Bushfire & ember guarding
Poorly-specified gutter mesh may put your property at risk from bushfire by letting leaves into your gutters or letting embers through the gaps between your guttering and roof.
Pests & vermin
When animals get into your roof and gutters, they can pose all sorts of threats to your building. Sturdy gutter mesh will keep these pests and vermin out.
Hail & snow
Accumulated hail or snow can damage your gutters and threaten the integrity of poorly-specified mesh. Hail can also puncture some meshes.
Strength & durability
Gutter mesh strength varies from product to product, so it’s important to consider your strength needs and determine how important strength and durability are to you.
Rust & corrosion
Avoid mixing “dissimilar” metals, minimise time of wetness and ensure that you use fit-for-purpose, specially coated steel to manage the risk of corrosion for your roof, gutters or mesh.
So, what type of gutter guard mesh is right for your property?
We take all the guesswork out for you with our free onsite inspection and recommendation. We supply and install the following options:
Available in a wide range of colours and to suit popular roof types such as corrugated, tile and Trimdek®, Aluminium is a great solution where managing leaves and debris is the main issue. Its 4mm aperture will keep out medium and large leaves such as gum leaves, gum nuts, bamboo and silky oak.
Superior in strength and durability, Steel is our most resilient gutter mesh and is available in three different apertures to keep out a range of leaf types. It can be installed on almost any roof, and our 2mm gutter mesh is also ember guard compliant. Custom options are also available.
Mesh Lock Gutter Trim
Increase your gutter mesh strength by choosing the Mesh Lock Gutter Trim. The Mesh Lock Gutter Trim’s patented design increases the load-bearing capacity and tear resistance of your gutter mesh. This will reduce the likelihood of your mesh collapsing when heavy hail, snow, animals or debris land on it. Lab testing demonstrated that the Mesh Lock Gutter Trim increased the loadbearing capacity of all our gutter mesh by over 200%. We recommend always installing Mesh Lock Gutter Trim when using 4mm Aluminium Mesh as it is the most susceptible to tearing from the gutter fastenings and, therefore, benefits the most from an increase in strength.
